MUSIC ORGANIZATIONS ON CAMPUS

If you are looking for music organizations to join, look no further than all over campus for your musical needs. Any major can join any of these organizations, whether musically inclined or not, they would love to have you.

Music Fraternities:

Sigma Alpha Iota -The International Music Fraternity for women among the university, who sing music to form strong bonds with each other and serve the community.

Phi Mu Alpha – The International Music Fraternity for men among the university, the brother version to SAI, whose purpose is to sing and share music with their brothers and all throughout the community.

Kappa Kappa Psi – The National Honorary Fraternity for College Band-members, where anybody in an orchestrated group or member of the band can join.

Educational Music Organizations:

National Association for Music Education: A professional association for future music teachers and friends of the arts to discuss music education opportunities, participate in fun activities, improve their teaching, and network with other music education students and teachers.

Women’s Vocal Arts Organization: A program organized and operated to promote performances by female vocal ensembles and the creation of compositions for the female voice.

Mixed Vocal Society for Choral Arts: A program, like WVAO, that is organized and operated to promote performances by mixed voice ensembles (both male and female voices), demonstrate and educate, enhance its members’ musical skills, share musical passion, and share with the community at large the gift of vocal music.

Composition Studio: The purpose of this organization is to broaden the outreach of FAU’s composition studio/music program to the larger student body, and to offer an outlet for student composers both within and outside of the music program on campus.

Other Music Organizations:

Mind & Melody: Musician and music lovers volunteer their time to share their passion for music by teaching and playing to individuals undergoing neurological impairments, such as dementia.

JamSesh: A group for both performers and listeners to come together and bond over their common interests in music.

Owl Radio: The Florida Atlantic University official Radio Station.  – Join a family of music minded people who want to learn and grow in Owl Radio’s professional environment.

The Marching Owls: The marching band of FAU, whose purpose is to provide entertaining performances that draw the audience into the game, inspire the team to victory, represent the community with pride, and nurture a spirit of cooperation and sportsmanship. The band comprises of students representing a variety of disciplines who contribute musically to the game-day atmosphere uniting the student body, university, and community in mutual camaraderie.
